Mahan’s Jayanthi

The birthday of the Mahan falls on the star Hastham in the month of Thai. Special Abhishekam and Alankaram are performed to the Siva Lingam and the idol of Sri Swamigal.

Karthigai Deepam

Karthigai Deepam is one of the important festivals celebrated in the main temple of Lord Sri Arunachaleswara on the full moon day in the month of Karthigai.


Navarathri is dedicated to the worship of Devi in Her form as Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi and celebrated in the month of Aipasi for nine nights and Vijayadasami on the tenth day.

On a Friday in the month of Thai, the Thiruvilakku pooja or worship of 108 lamps is performed in the Asramam. The pooja is performed by the female devotees to 108 Kuthu Vilakkus in which Devi is invoked.

Sri Krishna Jayanti marks the celebration of the birth of Bhagavan Sri Krishna. Lord Sri Krishna was born on the 'Rohini' nakshatram (star) on Ashtami day. The festival Sri Krishna Jayanti is also known as Gokulashtami and Janmashtam.
